Before you go

Skip drivers who approach you inside the terminal offering a 'taxi' or 'limousine' - these are unmetered touts who quote 700 - 1,000+ baht for a ride that should cost ~400. The legitimate cars are only at the ticketed dispatch queue on Level 1.
If a metered-taxi driver refuses the meter or claims it is 'broken,' politely get out and take the next car in the queue - a working meter is the rule, not a favor.
The most common mistake is heading up to Departures (Level 4) to grab a drop-off taxi instead of down to the official queue on Level 1; the official queue is cheaper and accountable.
